Title: America runs on Eighteen Wheels

Blog Entry: This Country runs on Eighteen Wheels That is right when you sit back and think of what the title means it is astounding to say the least, this country does in fact run and survive on eighteen wheels. I imagine you are asking what I mean well my friend let me try my best to explain it. First of all the American truck driver is someone that is trying to make a living out on the open road, this is their office like the one you have to go to during the day except their office moves, they have to deal with all types of hazards from the weather to high traffic problems, to you name it, this type of work is extremely stressful second only to law enforcement. They are behind the wheel of a semi truck for 11 hours trying to ensure that the goods that they are trusted to deliver make it to their appointed destination safely and without fail. If you look around your house, your office, your grocery store. Etc… Everything there was delivered on a truck… I am one of those drivers delivering goods to you for your benefit, I have been doing it for Eleven and a half years now, I am proud of the service my fellow drivers and I do for the American public. But it is a thankless job where we are shown by the media and other venues as the big bully on the highways… Folks I am here to tell you that we are not bullies we are people doing our jobs…. Ask yourselves have you ever seen a driver in the left lane of the highway passing another vehicle, and when they keep using the left lane for a few minutes extra to allow space between the vehicle they are passing and their truck (enough for your car or truck to fit in) why they are doing it… Most will say because they want to hold me up… that is not the case as a matter of fact as professional drivers we are trying to ensure that we give the other vehicle extra space for maneuvers in case of emergencies. When we do this unfortunately the space we provide is taken by vehicles wanting around us to get down the road or to the next exit. This happens in a blink of an eye and if the driver doesn’t recheck his or her mirrors before merging right again, he or she can run into cars that do this very maneuver. As of late the American truck driver came under attack yet again, this time from the VP elect for the Democratic Party… As a matter of fact this attack is on an interview seen on extra. The truth of the matter is that yet again another truck driver has been placed into a stereo type that has been placed on the whole trucking industry, due to a few drivers not taking their jobs serious and doing things unsafely… This type of stereotyping is like seeing someone wearing jeans and a t-shirt and saying they are poor or middle class… There is no basis for it. Truck Drivers are not the same, we are all individuals and for the most part we all do our jobs safely. We are not out here running up and down the highways without a care in our minds, The Trucking industry is made up of many types of truck drivers. Some are family men and women, some are retired military, take that back most are prior military, some are just starting out in a new career while others have been doing this for many years…. Each of us is out here for one reason because we like the freedom the road gives us… We seek no thanks for we know we will receive none, Nor do we seek fame, because the highway is an unforgiving realm, but what we do seek is respect, for we do this job with safety in mind… We are American Truck drivers and we are the back bone of this country… Like the title states America runs on Eighteen Wheels… God Bless the Brothers and Sisters of the Highway… Happy Trails and many thanks from a Fellow Truck Driver. &nb sp; Sincerely, &nb sp; Mark Strange
