Blog Entry: ok, back in january i was browsing the help wanted ads online. these particular ads were listed in my state unemployment office listings.... so this one ad i responded to with the usual resume`. i was then contacted via email. this "new job" is for yet another teaching job, at another truck driving school in my area. the man doing the hiring was impressed to say the least of my resume`, which of course, included teaching drivers previously. this "new school" will be opening up a new location about 35 miles south of my house. the projected start date is feb. 22nd. as of right now, i am still collecting unemployment, and going to the school to "learn" thier way of doing things. i am not being paid for this, as it will mess with the unemployment office. but they are at least paying for my gasoline to run back and forth. i have been told that since i am already an experienced teacher, that i will be the lead instructor at the new location, and will be doing classroom and yard training. they have another instructor lined up for road training. he's a bit rough around the edges. he's older, thusly has more driving experience than i, but he talks like the students are already drivers, and he keeps saying, "in the real world, blah, blah blah"..... the new employer DOES NOT LIKE anyone to say, "in the real world"..........and he's had to tell this other guy a few times now about that. schooling IS REAL. this new school actually has INTELLIGENT students, not like the dead-beats, former (or current) druggies, or alcoholics or smart@ss's or punks, or NON -ENGLISH SPEAKING, or crash test dummies like my former school, you know, what some call a CDL Mill........?? at this new school, there isn't any "student loan program" so the students have to pay for it themselves, or the unemployment office pays to re-train them..........other wise, they do not get to attend there. AND THEY MUST READ and UNDERSTAND ENGLISH, or they get turned down..... the other school, if one can sign on the "dotted line", they got accepted......... and i was here telling of why they let me go, back in october..........but to refresh your memory, a non-english speaking student ran over the safety cone, then proceeded to run into the safety rope.....all i did was run over to him (as i had a total of 4 trucks to watch backing up, and i was all alone (no other instructor with me), and i was yelling out, "stop the truck, stop the truck, put on the brakes". that @ss went to the office to biotch that i was "yelling AT HIM", which i wasn't, i was yelling out COMMANDS to stop the truck........ well my boss over there said basically, "so what", you didn't need to yell out..........oh ok, the engines (all 4 trucks) make noise, the exhaust systems are loud, the windows are rolled up, and i'm supposed to be "gentle" in giving my commands to STOP...??? before someone gets hurt....??? at my former job, the students RULED the place, as they were getting government money.........we instructors had virtually NO SAY in much.........yep, typical CDL Mill.........morons becoming truck drivers........ this "new" job, at this other school actually kicks out students..........i like that...........at this new school, the boss actually backs up his instructors.......and doesn't throw them under the bus, to satisfy the students crying......... my new boss has told me he likes my way of teaching, with seriousness and some humor thrown in. he see's where i can pull in the students, hold thier attention, present the lesson, and make them laugh all in learning thier lessons.  i treat them like people, and they ACT like people, NOT LIKE the animals of my former employer. so much for having to pay for something, rather than getting a free ride from a goverment loan......and perhaps not even pay it back......... i will keep you updated from time to time. in the begining of this, (when i was accepted for the position) i didn't want to come here and write a blog about it. i was still wanting to make sure all was going as well as can be first........ i have been demonstrating my teaching abilities, showing up daily (and early which is normal for me), and such to present myself in my best light to this new employer, and he has told me he likes me and my abilities in the classroom and yard. he see's where i am honest and how i do not take the BS either. IN FACT, my boss has a brother who is also an instructor, AT MY FORMER JOB, and he spoke with him...........and because of that conversation, HE KNOWS i was let go for B.S. REASONS.....!! how's that for a reference........!!! this new employer, the man who hired me, my supervisor, and the owner (all 3 people) have been impressed with my abilities........ finally, SOMEONE who appreciates a good instructor........
