Weather God Mother Nature People
|
Tornadoes are one of those deadly marvels of God and nature that no one can predict. They strike with out any rhyme or reason, totally demolishing entire neighborhoods only to leave one house standing virtually undamaged.
Funny Farm said she wouldn't know how to deal with a tornado as they normally deal with earthquakes in CA. I have to tell you Funny Farm, I don't think I could deal with the ground under my feet moving so my hats off to you for living and dealing with those. I've been in CA during a few of them over the years and I'd rather deal with a million tornadoes and hurricanes than 1 earthquake. We have those here too, but it's a rare thing that we even notice them thankfully. We had one on Jan 4, 2008 in fact, a 2.5 but I didn't know it until I looked it up. No one knows how to deal with a tornado. There is simply nothing you can do except be prepared and try to stay safe. They can't predict where they are going to strike, it's all an educated guess. Almost nothing can withstand a direct hit as the amount of sheer power they contain is un-imaginable and they've never been able to "measure" the actual power of one. There are areas of the country that experience them to the point that they get careless and don't respect the raw power that they contain, unfortunately my area is one of those. All in all everyone is safe and Alabama Power has done a wonderful job of getting the electricity back on, only 3100 don't have power this morning. We had 31 reported tornadoes in the state yesterday so I'd say we were blessed that there wasn't more damage or loss of life.
I want to say thanks to everyone that prayed for all the people in my town that experienced the wrath of mother nature yesterday about 3:15pm. I didn't realize the extent of the damage until this morning when I found out the main and secondary roads are blocked going in and out of town. Stay safe everyone I have a feeling this is going to be a really strange and dangerous weather year. Happy Trails NW
