"April Fools Day Strike" No Joke!
Posted On 03/27/2008 05:46:21 by Raven714

As the price of fuel continues to climb, more and more drivers are coming off the road at alarming rates.

For the ones that cannot understand why, you only have to look at what it cost to be on the road first. It used to be that a driver could support his family and have plenty left over for that rainy day. Moreover, with the price of oil going up and up companies are having to make cuts and charge more to help with the escalating prices of fuel. One of the cutbacks are some companies are asking drivers to take pay cuts. If a driver was averaging five or even six hundred dollars a week, and then the company is, asking him/her to work for half that, it should not be so hard to understand why they are getting off the road.

Anybody can make two hundred fifty or even three hundred a week at home, and still have time to spend with there families.

It is not worth it anymore considering we were working below minimum wage as it was. Now companies are asking drivers to pretty much work for them free. I go to many web sites, I post many articles, and I read articles of people that have never been out on the road, and are home every night with there loved ones and sleeping in warm beds and eating hot meals everyday.

These people have no clue of just what it takes to be out there, they make stupid unintelligent comments about something they have no knowledge.

To give them some idea of just what I am talking about I will give them an example, in short.

Work for half of what you are getting now, or even better work free for a month, and do not go home until that month is over, then stay home for three days and do it again for another month. Now ask yourself if you can survive and support your family with what you brought home. If you are married and have children, do you think that your family would support you being out there for three or four weeks at a time? “Working for peanuts”!

I will say this much marriages do not last long out on the road, and you can take that to the bank.

Driving a truck is a way of life, a since of freedom, you make your own hours within the time frame of what is given to you to get the freight to the final destination.

Now if you say it is about the money, then you better look into a mirror and say that until you convince yourself that you are compulsive lire.

It is not easy, and companies are asking drivers just to work for free? The answer is no!

Drivers will not work for anything less.

If you turn on the news open a newspaper, or even look on the Internet the word is getting out drivers from all over the country are planning on striking on April first.

“The April Fools Day Strike” and it will be no joke! Drivers are truly tacking a stand and sticking together on this one, I think everyone understands and news stations are just feeding off the media.

We have no choice in the matter, April first is a must and we are all out of options, unless of course you like working for free. A strike seems to be the only thing they understand. Be safe out there.

"UPDATE ON APRIL FOOLS DAY STRIKE"

 Today in Washington,
the heads of the big oil companies met face to face with the Senate, and as the
oil, companies were drilled by US Senators, it was clear that some of the
Senators had interest in oil. There questions were as lame as most of the
answers that the heads of the big oil companies answered, nevertheless I do
believe the message was clear to the big oil companies, and that was lower the
price of fuel or we will tax you more, and a notation that many more hearings
would follow until you comply.

However, many drivers did strike today and to send a message
to Washington for them to take
notice, and they did. During the hearing, the Senate did recognize the escalating
prices of diesel fuel, and mentioned that drivers were striking all over the
nation to send a message, and it did. My hat is off to all the drivers that
took this stand to be heard you showed that we could stick together and take a
stand and fight for what is right.

 A few drivers were
saying that a strike would not do anything however, if you look back in time
you will remember the negative seeds that were planted into peoples minds
saying that flight was impossible, and if God intended for us to fly he would of
gave us wings. In addition, when two brothers from Indiana
went to N.C. on December 17 1903
they proved to the people that planted the negative seeds and the world they
were wrong.

To prove a point we were heard today in Washington,
and they recognized that there was a problem that needed to be fixed, and they
are working hard to get the problem resolved.

 We cannot stop now
and we must continue to take this stand for this is a moment in time that will
go down in history as the April fools day strike.

Be proud of who you are and what we do and remember without truck
drivers this great nation will stop.

Be safe out there!
