What's that sounds? Is that a Tornado!
Posted On 04/05/2008 09:57:50 by NightWind

We'd been under either tornado or severe thunderstorm warnings and watches all day. I don't worry about the weather, but my hubby and Olive do. I figure if it's my time to go then at least I'm going rested, so I have no problem sleeping. After another rainy day, no make that a rainy week, I finally managed to get some cow manure in my raised beds between showers and got it tillered with the tractor for my next adventure in advanced produce production. Sounds good huh but it's just a raised bed so I don't have to bend over.

Suddenly I woke up to my husband shaking me and saying "do you hear that? What is that noise." "Nope" I said and was going to go back to sleep when he jumped out of bed and charged down the hall, so I followed because it takes a lot to get him to charge anywhere in his birthday suit so it had to be serious.

We got to the living room and I could hear this loud WHOOSHING sound, it was shaking the whole house! Well I'm thinking that we have a tornado about to descend on the house!

Quick run to the hall bathroom! Nope he wouldn't do that. Instead he goes on in to the office. Oh my God the sound is louder! I'm thinking we are not going to be in Alabama any more, I don't have any Red shoes and there is no yellow brick road.

We run over to the huge cabinet where we have some of our computers and printers, the sound is louder! Russ drags a chair over and reaches up and grabs the huge sub woofer speaker for my computer, snatches the cables out of it and turns toward me. I'm thinking "why are we saving a stupid speaker?" Then I noticed the loud WHOOSHING sound has stopped! Russ has this "look" on his face like he wants to kill the speaker and I told him now "Honey, don't do anything rash."

The  "tornado" sound we heard was this speaker! The computer was OFF, unplugged, and I never use the sound so the speakers were all turned OFF too. Some how some way this giant Bose speaker had started making this noise that we thought was a tornado. How in the heck it did that we don't know but it was that speaker. Well we checked everything and go back to bed. Russ gets back up I say On no not again! He's too wired up from the Mad Speaker to sleep. Not me right back to sleep, thinking what's he going to do to the speaker? Well the speaker is sitting there, I'll probably never plug it in and Russ stayed up til the generator kicked off.
Thankfully it wasn't a tornado and everything is fine. But for a brief second in time I just knew we were goners. I hope that we never experience a tornado first hand and I know we won't be saving any speakers either if we ever do experience a tornado.

Have a good weekend and watch out for possessed speakers you could be next!

OMG!! That is funny! I am almost in tears laughing about your tornado speaker!!! Poor Russ! I cant imagine what you must have been thinking, half asleep and he is after a speaker to save! That must have been some sight!

I am very happy to hear it was not a tornado, just a crazy speaker. You sure have a great way of writing things to make it very entertaining, even after you had to have had the you know what scared out of you at that moment.

 Thanks for the great read
