Need A Little Help Here.....
Posted On 07/04/2008 03:03:55 by Runamuk

I am getting a new laptop for my truck and I could really use a little input from any or all of you.  I hever used to run a "puter" in the truck because I never had the time to stop and use it.

Well, things have changed, much for the better I might say, as i will be running 100% legal and most of the time with an oversize permit load. I am sure that I am going to have plenty of time to utilize the laptop.

What I would like to know is what service you are using for your laptop in the truck and how it is working for you. I would also be curious as to what you pay per month. i will be travelling in most all of the states at one time or another, not just out here in the West as I used to. All kinds of changes are being made around here. i would surely appreciate any input you might be able to share with me and others on this subject.

Happy 4th of July to everyone..

Bill

I've got the Verizon card also. It gets great service, even in some wayyyyy out of the way places. It's not as fast as the Wi-fi hot spots of course, but at least it's usually there when you want or need it. It runs about $60 a month per line.

We used to have Streets & Trips with GPS on the laptop. It was wonderful...until silly ol' Bud got a bit too wild in the truck...again...grrrr. We're going to replace it soon. It was very handy to have except that it's made for 4-wheelers and occasionally it can't help when trying to get out of downtown Pittsburg....another grrrrr.

Good luck with whichever you decide to go with and let us all know how it's working out!

using Verizon and Idle aire here verizon is running 59.99 a month and Idle aire around 5 bucks at a time... I do know the Idle Aire attendees try to accomidate OD loads if they can but usually have to call customer service and reserve space for yourself at the facility.
