Well it's been a heck of a week already and it's only Weds. We've had horrible problems with our Internet for the past month but the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise that will be a thing of the past come Friday. Just another reason to love Friday I guess. We've been on satellite Internet out here for years, it was either that or dial up so at the time it was a no brainier. Well years later I have to say the amount of stress in dealing with satellite problems and dealing with a dial up connection are about even. I'm 75% deaf as some of you know so I really hate the telephone, especially those that AREN'T hearing aid compatible.
There's only one thing I hate worse than the phone and it's trying to talk to some one with an Indonesian accent like the ones that you get when you call Dell or most technical support numbers these days and get some one in Indonesia, or India, it's the same deal with the satellite companies trier one support who I have to talk to for 10 minutes while they read my account and get to the part that says "Advanced user, send to tier 4 support or engineering." Those 10 minutes where I have to talk to them before they transfer me make me want to scream, break things have a regular hissy fit which is unusual for me.
Hey I have no problem with it as long as they SPEAK and UNDERSTAND clear precise ENGLISH! I have no problem with any other accent, but for the life of me I can't understand folks from India, Indonesia, or any Asian or country from that part of the world. I don't know what the deal is but I found out it's not just me and my hearing problem. My neighbor has hearing like an owl and SHE can't understand them either so that makes me feel better.
After Friday I won't have to talk to them and hopefully the DSL won't give me a headache.
At least I can work on DSL, there's nothing fancy about it, plain old POTS, I can deal with that. You can't do crap with a satellite problem unless you are in the control center where ever the heck that's at, or in a space suit.
