I just currently graduated truck driving school. I have a couple of options. The three best from sifting thru the recruiter b/s that I could tell were TMC, H.O.Wolding, and Werner. I have heard good and bad about all of them. Can anyone give a rookie some advice??????????

I personally don't know anything about any of those companies except what I've heard. One thing I'll say is any job is going to be what you make of it. Yes some companies are better to work for but I think that you can make the best out almost of any company simply by your attitude and what you want to accomplish. Being a student makes it harder since you have to prove your-self at all of them and will for the next couple of years. The best advice I can give anyone new to trucking is pick a company, keep your nose clean and stick with them for at least a year.
Back in the day it wasn't a big deal for drivers to change companies a lot but now it matters. It's expensive to get an experienced driver through orientation much less a student through the required company training and trained enough to be assigned their own truck. So pick your company carefully it's going to matter. I'd even go to the extent of going to their main terminal, look at the shop, equipment and talk to as many people as you can about any company that you may be thinking about going to. Talk to the safety department and the driver manager's supervisor. Most importantly get everything in writing and write down names dates etc. A diary isn't a bad thing for a driver to keep as we can't remember everything. Don't rush into anything and don't let anyone push you. Make sure that the person you talk to has the power to make good on any promises.
Remember you can never have too much information when making a life changing decision like this one. Don't take a job if their home time policy isn't going to work for you because you'll be miserable. Don't expect the company to make policy changes to keep you happy. Most companies want drivers to be happy but won't bend over back-wards to accomplish it. The job is going to be what ever you make of it. Good luck and Happy Trails NW

Well now is the time to get your information together because Federal Law requires all truckers to show their employment for the last 10 years. You have to tell them what you were doing during times that you weren't employed as well. So take the time to get all that information together and you'll be ready. Good Luck
