"April Fools Day Strike" No Joke!
Posted On 03/27/2008 05:46:21 by Raven714

As the price of fuel continues to climb, more and more drivers are coming off the road at alarming rates.

For the ones that cannot understand why, you only have to look at what it cost to be on the road first. It used to be that a driver could support his family and have plenty left over for that rainy day. Moreover, with the price of oil going up and up companies are having to make cuts and charge more to help with the escalating prices of fuel. One of the cutbacks are some companies are asking drivers to take pay cuts. If a driver was averaging five or even six hundred dollars a week, and then the company is, asking him/her to work for half that, it should not be so hard to understand why they are getting off the road.

Anybody can make two hundred fifty or even three hundred a week at home, and still have time to spend with there families.

It is not worth it anymore considering we were working below minimum wage as it was. Now companies are asking drivers to pretty much work for them free. I go to many web sites, I post many articles, and I read articles of people that have never been out on the road, and are home every night with there loved ones and sleeping in warm beds and eating hot meals everyday.

These people have no clue of just what it takes to be out there, they make stupid unintelligent comments about something they have no knowledge.

To give them some idea of just what I am talking about I will give them an example, in short.

Work for half of what you are getting now, or even better work free for a month, and do not go home until that month is over, then stay home for three days and do it again for another month. Now ask yourself if you can survive and support your family with what you brought home. If you are married and have children, do you think that your family would support you being out there for three or four weeks at a time? “Working for peanuts”!

I will say this much marriages do not last long out on the road, and you can take that to the bank.

Driving a truck is a way of life, a since of freedom, you make your own hours within the time frame of what is given to you to get the freight to the final destination.

Now if you say it is about the money, then you better look into a mirror and say that until you convince yourself that you are compulsive lire.

It is not easy, and companies are asking drivers just to work for free? The answer is no!

Drivers will not work for anything less.

If you turn on the news open a newspaper, or even look on the Internet the word is getting out drivers from all over the country are planning on striking on April first.

“The April Fools Day Strike” and it will be no joke! Drivers are truly tacking a stand and sticking together on this one, I think everyone understands and news stations are just feeding off the media.

We have no choice in the matter, April first is a must and we are all out of options, unless of course you like working for free. A strike seems to be the only thing they understand. Be safe out there.

Look, I am fully aware of both laws, and the point of shutting down is to
force the government and the public to take notice and to respond to what is
going on.

Can you work for half of what you used to make, or worse work for nothing?

How many times did you work for a week and only brought home fuel money or
less then that?

The brokers are not compensating us for the escalating price of fuel and we
are pulling money out of our pockets to pay for the fuel.

In addition, if you are a company driver, companies are now asking there
drivers to take pay cuts. I guess we are all supposed to bend over and take it
like a man or we can stand together and fight for what is right.

The bottom line is we have nothing to lose and everything to gain, and we
are not the only ones that are striking; drivers are striking all over the
world, just pull it up on the Internet and you will see.

I would justify this action to be like the Boston Tea Party only we are not
dumping anything into a bay, but fighting because we are backed into a corner,
and we have no other way to go.
