Hi everyone, I woke up this morning and had TS on my mind, and to those Drivers out there at a truck stop, waiting for the holiday to get over so you can hit the road again, and to those that are on the road as we write this, I wish you all the best of Christmas's, and a safe one.
Now to the families that are missing that Driver that is not home for this special day... Your the back bone that takes the hits from the daily duties of raising your special one's, I wish you the same, with admiration for you and your special Driver, it takes a team to go through what you both do....Merry Christmas Everyone, and I hope your rejoined soon, that is what it is all about, you think? Sure it is....Have a great day. Semper Fi, Bob

Now our President Elect Says....the worst is yet to come, and our economy has hard time ahead....
Now why didn't he say this during the election campaign? Or did I miss something? In any regard, I agree with him...we have not seen the end of this mess. And, for those of you who think that creating jobs is going to help, beware! Yes there will be new jobs, but be careful where you hang your hat. Some good questions for starters are: What is the hourly wage, or is it all commission based? How much do I pay for family health insurance? When does my 401-K start, and when am I fully vested? Paid time off? Vacation per year available? Or do I have to work my rear off, to earn time off, only to have it swollowed up with sick days off in between? The reason I am writing this, is simple. There are already companies out there that hire you, promise you the moon, and then the reality kicks in, this place really is not what I signed on for. The hourly wage is eight bucks an hour, the company makes you pay 50% medical costs, and what vacation time, your might have to beg for time off just to go to the doctor, to use you wonderful health care benefits your paying for anyway.
I know there are good companies out there to work for, but beware, and be careful. I suggest you interview the company, you make the choice before they come back to you, and be ready for any down fall. Good luck to us all. Be careful, stay safe..... Semper Fi, Bob

So are we done with the foreclosures, people continue to lose their largest investment...ever ask why it happened, and ... when is it over?
No is the answer...we are not done seeing the foreclosures. The reason...simple, too many new homes were built in so many large cities, and too many crooked Lenders placed non qualified folks into their home they had always dreamed of, and yes, the dream was too good to be true. Ever think of the Lender of choice with almost all of these builders had something to do with being approved with slick interest rates, no money down, no cost to the borrower closing fees, no cost for a new washer and dryer, furniture, even free basements, and it goes on and on...who did pay for all these "enticements"...that"s right, enticements to buy is exactly what FHA says about these tactics, and they are unlawful.
We are not at the end of the forclosure market, there are still hundreds of loans out there that are coming up on a rate change this year, and it will be a large increase, along with the taxes now being reassessed. More people are going to lose their homes, and now we ...you and I will pay the price. This bailout is a farce if I ever saw one. Even people who rent are going to pay for this one. Unreal....and it should be unlawful as well.
So what do we do to stop this crisis? Stop making loans to unqualified borrowers for one thing. Make the home ownership dream still a reachable one, but do it right. Make sure the borrower is insured with a good backing of a FHA loan, insured against loss. If for some reason the borrower did lose the home, it is insured against loss and the borrower is not liable to repay the debt under FHA guidelines. Why is that? Because it is an insured loan, and the borrower is paying dearly for that protection every month a payment is made. That's right, the borrower pays, not you or me, they do.
So what went wrong with the Insurance companies that were backing the other loans out there, simple, the high ranking officers were giving themselves raises, and it just goes on and on.
If your about to lose your home, do not panic...get on the phone and talk to the bank, remember, they have enough homes now, and do not want any more. They are being urged by the feds to not foreclose, but to work out a plan to help you.
Ok, enough of my thoughts...keep the faith, and for a final word...please vote....I don't care which way you vote, but do it...it is your right to do so....make a difference and just do it.
Semper fi everyone, good seeing you all here again, take care. Bob

Hello everyone...it seems like forever since I have been home here on T.S...work never ends it seems. I never thought I would go back thirty years in income, but I have ... the doctor did not release me to go back to work, and stated no lifting over ten lbs. My trucking company will not re hire me, so here I am still working for peanuts. I will say it pays the bills, but it is hard to choke down the thought I have regressed back so far in my hourly wage. I work all the overtime I can, but it still really hurts. I know so many of you are doing the same, I pray we all come out of this recession soon. I have to also start reading more on here, it is always nice to read your posts. So much going on, and I wish you all well. As for the Mortgage industry, ....it is still in a slump that is not going to change for some time I am afraid. My days of writing loans for the American Dream of Home Ownership is also over....at least for now. OK, take care, hope to catch up with you all soon. I am doing better physically, we won't talk about the mentally aspect, LOL...we all have to be a little nutty some time in our lives...it s my turn now, so don't you try and stop me..LOL Always, Semper fi, Bob
Work, and more work, for ten bucks an hour...I have regressed back in time. Can you believe that? Sure you can, I bet there are many just like me on here right now. I have not been here for some time due to work, more work, more worry, and more time to think of what I am doing. Off the road now for five months, and still trying to make it happen, you know, make some money and live to see tomorrow. I will have to say, I am thankful for my job, even if it does not have a different picture window everyday to view. I have read so many blogs on here recently and began to feel so darn guilty for not being on here. Seems so many of us are going through the growing pains as I am here as well. Night Wind, I am glad your house is coming along, and hubby I hope is doing better, that is a hard way to go I know..and for your knees too. Health issues are always the toughest part of...getting the opposite of younger,....put politely ya think? LOL. Well I go for the six hour torture tomorrow to see what classification I will have with workman's comp. I am not looking forward to this at all. Pain is an everyday thing for me and to subject myself to more, is just crazy, but I will go and do my best as always. I hope all is well with so many of you...Angel your an Angel for sure, and Hangman your running the roads and burning them up as you go I am sure. I hope to see some posts and will be checking back in. For now stay safe everyone, and happy gardening shedriver, too... Semper Fi, Bob
Hey gang, just got an email from a dear friend of mine that just told me her husband who has been on the road for 30 plus years fell off his truck and has a double spiral and fibula and tibula fracture...hope I got that correct. Driving days are over for him. I remember writing to this person and asking for advice as to how to get ready for hitting the road with it becoming a new career for me. This hits home very deeply with me, and my friend certainly knew it. I never thought of a person with this much experience of falling off his truck. It can happen and I wish the best for him, and to all my friends out there on the road. Be safe people, take your time getting in and out and off that truck, it is a long way down, I know... Semper fi, Bob
I have had so much fun lately reading posts, and keeping up with the outside world in what is happening on the road....I love the post Hangman wrote the other day, this is a true blue American that wants things to progress and not regress. I just do not know how to pass on to the rest of the world his and so many more of us with thoughts that come from the heart. I hope we all take a good look at what is happening to our economy, and the effect it has on the trucking industry. Everything we have in our possession comes from a trucker, long hard hours of running to provide for us the things we have to have to survive. Food, clothing and so much more....my hat is off to you all out there. God's speed to you, and safe driving as well. I wanted to thank so many of you for your phone calls, and wishes here on TS...your the real deal people! I love my not so new friends any longer, your becoming my ole friends now. Keep in touch and I will do the same. Semper fi, Bob
Just wanted to give an update for those that might have to go thru the same ordeal I have with a broken arm. Two surgeries down and no relief seems to be coming in the near future. The glitch, I will call it is 99 % gone, but the pain remains, and swelling is still at the elbow area. I had three doctors look at this arm before my last surgery a few weeks ago, one stated one way to do the surgery, however the workman's comp insurance would not approve the one suggested to correct the problem once and for all, as it cost too much. Time will tell the story, I am giving this another month before doing something rational. That's about it, I cannot drive my car let alone a big truck without constant pain. Moral of this story, do not break your arm and drive big trucks until you are fully recovered from your surgery in the first place. I think I did everything right, and would have done it the same, except for going back to work within the first 90 days...take care, stay safe.

I promised I would check back with you and let you know how things went in surgery...as I said earlier I was awake thru the entire ordeal. It was a good experience and I would do it again if given the choice. My arm was totally numb, it was a weird feeling to have someone move your arm as you watch them doing it, but not feeling a thing. I "thought" my arm and hand was cold, LOL...no way, it was warm to the touch. Well, the doctor I had was one of few words....boy was he in for a treat as I was asking him questions he just could not respond to without thinking about it...such as one question I ask was, "so, is what my wife has been telling me true?" He responed by "what's that?" I said she has been telling me I have a screw lose. He just laughed and said "actually you have two lose, and I am going to take them out too." I finally got him to laugh and show some humor...LMBO... Some days I live to do things like that, to get someone to smile, laugh or even comment on something. Well, he then ask for a number 2 screw driver, so I knew he was no kidding. Then he ask for a something else, a hammer? No way I thought...then, I heard this knocking sound...five of them, so .... I said....."come in." LOL.... Now I was on a roll. He really busted a gut. So to make this a little shorter, we had a conversation going on for over two hours, and I think he did a good job. I have a lot of swelling, and it will be here for a while, and of course pain that is to be expected. The bone fragments floating around in the arm are now gone. The growth of bone which made it hard for me to use my arm for steering a car, let alone an eighteen wheeler is gone, that is where the hammer and chisel came in I am pretty sure. Time will tell is all I can say at this point. I do want to say thank you all for your kind words, and prayers as well. Take care and will keep in touch, you do the same, and stay safe out there.
